All decisions are sustained by the subtle contradiction of ideas, the different positions on the same issue, like a tireless succession. Some opinions are stronger than others and survive, others win out through sheer exhaustion. In any case, they build us up; they are the foundations and openings of a house. We are a collection of decisions, the result of a chain of resolutions floating in a sea of alternatives.
