2016 - Essays on certainty
Solo exhibition at Espacio MODOS

Through painting, sound, and installation, Paloma Marquez develops and presents her worldview of humanity and the conflicts that befall it, through a series of essays composed of repetitions, voids, rhythms, and a multitude of minuscule figures poised to perform colossal feats. Her imagery reminds us of the eternal struggle we have faced since the beginning of time, represented by these tiny beings who possess certainty—the certainty of doubt, of the incomprehensible, of the inevitable.
Like Sisyphus, condemned to eternally repeat his labors, these little heroes persist in combating their anxieties, breaking their limits, and delving into the depths of their emotions. In some cases, they face adversity alone, and in others, they demonstrate that unity is strength.
